Eurostar - Together We Go Further
Motion Design
For this live-action and classically animated campaign for Eurostar, I had the pleasure of being one of two Design Leads. I oversaw that visual execution of the project within the Design Studio, leading illustrators, animators and designers, external and within The Mill's own design team to achieve the director's creative vision.
It was quite enjoyable working with so many talented artists across a variety of styles and aesthetics. With a background in illustration and training in cel animation, I was very excited to get stuck into a 2D animation workflow, ensure the proper preparation of the illustrations, and watch them come to life in animation. The illustrators were picked specifically for each of Eurostar's destination cities, adding their own unique imprint onto that part of the work. As you would expect with a brand of such notoriety and a director with a strong creative vision, there was a lot of back and forth. Attention to detail was incredibly important as the representation of each location was heavily scrutinised. Instructions and feedback were given carefully to find the correct expression of the brand, characters and celebration of the location. The characters also needed to feel the same, even though they switched between such wildy different aesthetics. All in all it was a real challenge but an enjoyable one, and an excellent achievement for all involved especially the illustrators and 2viente who brought everything to life in 2D animation.
